DMI Ltd is a biotech company dedicated to finding and developing new medical technologies to help the medical community provide quality and affordable care to their patients. The X-halo, which measures exhaled breath temperature (EBT) is one such device. With the fairly recent discovery of EBT as a biomarker of airway inflammation DMI teamed with Dr Ted Popov, the inventor of a portable breath thermometer, to develop a commercial unit that could improve the clinicians' ability to detect earlier the airway inflammation status of asthmatics in a practical and productive manner that is non-invasive to the patient. Current methods to evaluate airway inflammation like, sputum eosinophils are challenging for the patient and requires ample lab time for results, while exhaled nitric oxide appears promising, but have high operational costs.
